Tuition Fees
The Postgraduate Programme includes tuition fees set at 3,000 euros for each cycle of study. The payment is made by the student (or by a third party on behalf of the student) into an account of the Special Account for Research Funds (ΕΛΚΕ).
Tuition fees must be paid into the Special Account for Research Funds of AUTh (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki). Failure to meet financial obligations may result in the non-award of the diploma or even expulsion from the programme. Payment is made in three equal installments at the beginning of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd semesters, respectively, into a bank account specifically maintained for this purpose by the Special Account for Research Funds of AUTh.
Depending on demand, and following approval by the Department Assembly and a decision by the University Senate, the program may adjust the tuition fee amount before the annual announcement of the programme.
A postgraduate student’s request for a refund of semester tuition fees is allowed only if they can sufficiently demonstrate a compelling reason for discontinuing their studies. The request must be submitted to the programme no later than ten (10) days from the start of the semester’s classes.
Exemption from Tuition Fees
Students who excel during their undergraduate studies, with a minimum GPA of 7.5/10, may be eligible for tuition-free education based on financial or social criteria. The specific terms and conditions for tuition-free education are outlined in the relevant legislation and the decision of the Minister of Education and Religious Affairs. The number of students eligible for exemption should not exceed 30% of the total number of students admitted to the program, and this applies to participation in only one Postgraduate Program. If the number of eligible students exceeds this percentage, selection will be based on income, starting with the lowest.
The application for tuition fee exemption must be submitted by the interested party to the Secretariat of the Programme after the student selection process for the Postgraduate Programme is completed. The possibility of exemption is provided exclusively for enrollment in one Postgraduate Programme organized by a domestic Higher Education Institution. The necessary procedures for granting the right to tuition-free education are determined in the Postgraduate Studies Regulations.
Scholarships
The Programme Committee may grant scholarships to postgraduate students based on the programme’s revenue. Scholarships are awarded based on academic criteria (e.g., academic performance based on the GPA of the previous semester) and must be included in the approved budget of the programme. The terms of award, obligations, and rights of scholarship recipients are determined by the Program Committee’s recommendation and decision.
AUTh may grant work-based scholarships to postgraduate students in exchange for supporting the educational process and providing teaching assistance. The programme sets the maximum amount for work-based scholarships per student, the maximum number of weekly work hours, and other details regarding the scholarships. Postgraduate students are informed through an announcement from the programme’s Secretariat.
